The Word is Grease was a Hit!

The Word is Grease was a Hit!

By: Charlie Jones, Senior Communications Intern

It’s Automatic! It’s Systematic! It’s Hydrooooomatic! Grease was a hit! Under the direction of Artistic and Music Director Louis Gibilisco, Notre Dame High School Performing Arts students wowed audiences yet again with their take on the acclaimed classic Grease. Based around the look and sound of the 1950s, the musical follows the high school romance of head "greaser" Danny Zuko and good girl Sandy Dumbrowski through bebopping hits like Summer Nights, Greased Lightning, and Hopelessly Devoted to You.

These talented student performers worked tirelessly to perfect the intricacies of this timeless classic. With such widespread notoriety of the show, the performers attempted to stay true to their iconic characters while adding their own flare. Along with vibrant characters, you could see the attention to detail from the set to the lighting to the costumes. One second you felt like you were sitting in any normal high school and the next you were immersed through lighting and sound in the energetic world of the Greasers and the Pink Ladies. The cast also matched their outstanding vocals with the impressive and focused accompaniment provided by the orchestra. With the amazing vocals and dancing ability of the performers, supported by the lively and sparkling effects of the set and lighting, these students put together a show to remember.

The precision and professionalism of the students did not go unnoticed. The entire cast, crew, and orchestra should be extremely proud of all their hard work, which based on the standing ovations of the audiences night after night, it paid off. Keep an eye out for what the gifted students of the Notre Dame Performing Arts program will put on for next year’s spring musical!

 Holy Week Liturgy and Confirmation

The Notre Dame community gathered for our school-wide Monthly Liturgy on March 27 celebrating Holy Week. Our Chaplain, Fr. Jason Parzynski was the celebrant. This liturgy was special as we were able to witness nine students receive their Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Faith. We are grateful that they chose to continue their faith-filled journey as candidates in Notre Dame’s RCIA program.
