Ms. Luczynszyn Attends Yearbook Conference

Kansas City — July 2026

In July, Ms. Luczyszyn attended a yearbook conference hosted by Varsity Yearbooks in Kansas City and toured the plant where our Canticle is published. Through many sessions, Ms. L  focused on strengthening the teaching skills necessary to produce a thorough, engaging, and professionally designed student publication. The conference provided both professional development and a broader understanding of the yearbook production process, giving her practical strategies that she can bring directly back to our yearbook staff.

Some valuable components of the conference were: learning the basics of our yearbook design software, improving copy and coverage, learning teaching strategies to help students develop stronger anthology and journalism skills, and learning best practices to help our talented staff continue to win national awards for our book. Ms. L is so excited to approach this year’s Canticle as a form of storytelling that beautifully reflects our Irish pride and preserves the details and experiences of the school year. 

In addition to the educational sessions, Ms. L toured the yearbook production plant and met with our customer service adviser. Varsity is responsible for approximately three million yearbooks, which makes the logistical side of yearbook production especially impressive, and gives true insight into the importance of deadlines! Perhaps most importantly, the conference reinforced that a great yearbook is about telling the complete story of a year at Notre Dame, and that is impossible to do without a staff of creative and dedicated students.  Please consider joining the yearbook staff this year and be a part of sharing our story and creating a beautiful book that we will look back on with pride.
