Spring Musical - Les Misérables

Spring Musical - Les Misérables

By Rebecca Gugliermo, Communications & Marketing Intern

Under the direction of Artistic and Music Director Louis Gibilisco, Notre Dame High School’s Performing Arts Department presents its 10th-anniversary production of the Broadway classic Les Misérables, a tale of conflict, triumph, and hope.

This compelling opera tells the story of ex-convict Jean Valjean, a man imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, as he seeks to rebuild his life after being released from prison. Despite his efforts to live honorably, he is relentlessly pursued by the strict and unforgiving Inspector Javert. Along the way, Jean Valjean meets Fantine, a poor woman who loses her job and turns to desperate measures to save her daughter Cossette, who is currently living with the Thenardier family and their daughter Epinone. After Fantine’s death, Valjean promises her that he will care for Cossette, and he saves her from the abusive Thenardiers. Years pas,s and Cossette has grown up under the care of Jean Valjean. She is now a beautiful young woman who falls in love with Marius, a young student who is preparing to join the rebellion with his friends for the battle of their lives that is just “One Day More” away. This beloved show had 16 successful years on Broadway and multiple tours, ultimately revealing that to love another person is to see the face of God.

Congratulations to the talented cast, crew, and orchestra on five amazing shows. The Notre Dame Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Louis Gibilisco for his 35th Notre Dame production.
