BYOD Policy & Device Requirements
While many students already own laptops and computing devices, families looking to purchase devices should consider the following:
- Devices must have wireless capability. Students receive individual Wi-Fi access codes.
- Devices must have a working camera and microphone.
- Devices must have a keyboard. Students use Google Docs; Office 365 is available.
- Devices must have the latest version of the Chrome web browser.
- Students must charge devices every evening to be ready for the school day. Charging stations are available on campus for emergencies.
- Students must be able to store data in the cloud via Google Drive and/or on the device hard drive.
- Many textbooks are digital or include ebook components, which students access via websites.

Important: Due to educational limitations, smartphones and tablets (e.g., iPads/MS Surface) are not allowed as primary BYOD devices. The permitted operating systems are Chrome OS, Windows, and macOS. Please note that while Chromebooks are excellent for everyday student use, they have limitations for standardized testing, such as the PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
