The Notre Dame Mathematics Department offers a high-quality mathematics curriculum that prepares students to become independent and self-reliant mathematical thinkers.  Our semester block schedule offers all students the opportunity to reach multiple electives such as Calculus, Precalculus, Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry, Probability & Statistics, and Discrete Mathematics.  Our honors courses prepare students for our Advanced Placement, which include AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics. Our math courses provide the opportunity for all students to:

  • Develop an understanding of mathematical concepts by posing and solving problems related to real world situation.

  • Mathematically represent and analyze patterns, relationships, and real world data.

  • Develop an understanding of how the various fields of mathematics are interrelated and how mathematics relates to other disciplines.

  • Routinely use available technology to enhance mathematical thinking and problem solving capabilities.

  • Synthesize their knowledge and demonstrate creativity through application problems, group and individual projects.

  • Communicate mathematically through classroom discussions, reading and writing experiences.

  • Learn with and from other students through cooperative learning experiences and peer tutoring situations.
