CFP Championship 2018: Halftime Show Outshines the Game

Let’s face it. The 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game was a one-sided affair after the first quarter. Defending champion Alabama was unable to make key plays in a crushing 44-16 affair to Clemson. But there was one thing that America seemed to care about: the halftime show.
In the gig that’s called “almost (but definitely not quite) the Super Bowl”, Imagine Dragons performed a selection of their hits. And it caught much of America off-guard because what they are most famous for is composing jingles for commercials and promotions. In fact, many people weren’t aware that they were an actual band.
The show wasn’t in the stadium, so fans at the game didn’t have to listen to what Yahoo! Sports said was “noise-enduring”. It took place on an island nearly 45 minutes away from Levi’s Stadium. But those at home had to watch it, and the majority were not pleased.
Yahoo! Sports has gathered a selection of the Tweets posted after the performance. They can be found here.
In the meantime, Imagine Dragons had a special guest during their performance: Lil’ Wayne. CNN called the pickup “a Lil’ weird”. This was because the Grammy-award winning rapper had on quite the outfit, which included a multi-patterned, long coat, floppy hat, oversize sunglasses, knee-high boots, and a striped scarf. The outfit sparked comparisons to McDonald’s Hamburglar and E.T.
Even though he didn’t perform his song “Colorful Clothes”, Lil’ Wayne was a man of many colors during the performance.
Hopefully, Maroon 5’s performance at Super Bowl LIII will be better than this monstrosity.
