By Karissa Chen, Senior Communications Intern
Two Notre Dame seniors, Nicolas Shiarappa and Jason Merendino, were honored at the Annual Monsignor Crean Memorial Scholarship Breakfast held on March 17, 2019.
The breakfast is sponsored by the Mercer County Federation of Holy Name Societies and was held following a Mass at St. Raphael-Holy Angel Church in Hamilton.
The Federation of Holy Name Societies gathers annually to present a $1,000 scholarship to two deserving students attending a Catholic high school who plan to continue their education. Nick and Jason were honored at a breakfast honoring Monsignor Richard T. Crean.
Monsignor Crean served as the Federation’s Spiritual Director from 1940 until his death in 1956. He is remembered every year at this Mass and breakfast for his work in the Diocese of Trenton. His legacy lives on through the scholarship awards.
Notre Dame is very proud of Nick and Jason for their accomplishments!
