Freshman Baseball and The Miracle League of Mercer County
On May 11, the Notre Dame Freshman Baseball Team completed a community service project with The Miracle League of Mercer County. Founded in 2004, The Miracle League of Mercer County is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing individuals with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball.
The students started the event by welcoming and cheering for the players as they arrived. Each student was assigned a “buddy” to assist in running the bases, catch and hit. The ND team participated in four baseball games during the event.
“The experience was awesome for our team and coaches and it allowed us to have fun with the kids from the Miracle League,” said Freshman Baseball Coach, Gary Conover. “Any time we can give back to the community, we should and I am super proud of the team for stepping up and volunteering on a Saturday.”
A special thank you to Coaches Conover, Burrows and Drulis for organizing this event. Great job, Irish!
