Students "Latinam Doceo"

The Department of World Languages at Notre Dame High School has started an after-school Latin program, based on the Paideia Institute’s Aequora curriculum, at Saint Ann School in Lawrenceville, NJ .
Once a week, a group of Latin Honors students and active Latin Club officers travel from NDHS to Saint Ann's  to teach interested students Latin and Roman culture in a games-based approach. Our goal is to introduce students who traditionally have not had access to classes in Latin and Roman civilization to these areas of knowledge, enriching their educational experience.

The program also gives NDHS students a chance to gain teaching experience, increasing ownership of their learning through hands-on work with younger students. Saint Ann School has not had a consistent Latin program but would like to add Latin to the World Language curriculum. Principal Chiaravalloti and the program’s supervisor, Ms. Koebele-Demaree, believe that an initial sign-up of 19 students, in grades 6-8, is a great start. We hope to expand the program to more students in the future.
