We are very proud of Taz who has had an amazing career at ND. On September 14, 2019, Taz broke the school record and became Notre Dame’s All-Time Leading Rusher with 3,657 yards. By the end of the season, he had a total of 5,107 yards. In addition to breaking a school record, Taz has received numerous local and state awards. Here is a list of some of his football accomplishments:
The Maxwell Football Club 2019 Mini Max NJ High School Award Winner
Super 100 All-State Team 2019
NJ.com All-State Football: Offensive 2nd Team
1st Team All-State for Non-Public
12th Man TD Club as Offensive Back of the Week
12th Man TD Club’s Frank “Mammy” Piscopo Memorial Award as Player of the Year as a Junior
Coach Sean Clancy has nothing but great things to say about Taz stating, “Cortaz has done an outstanding job as a four-year starter and leader of our football program. He has left an outstanding legacy at ND.” When Taz was asked how he felt about his ND football career he said, "Every year I gave everything I had to this great program and after 4 amazing years, I got everything from it. I don’t have one single regret. I’m excited to take everything I learned from our terrific school and apply it to the next chapter of my life at CCSU! GO IRISH! GO BLUE DEVILS!”
Taz undeniably left his mark on Notre Dame with his football legacy but he is also an AP Art student and an active member of the SHADES Club and Catholic Athletes for Christ. Our ND Family will surely miss him next year. We are so proud of all his accomplishments and are excited to see him play at the college level.
