Phase 1 of Return to Play Underway at ND

On Monday July 13th, we welcomed several of our student-athletes back to campus for the NJSIAA Phase 1 of Return to Play.  Over 250 upperclassmen signed up!  Some teams are working on Monday and Wednesday while others work on Tuesday and Thursday.
Phase 1 is a Conditioning phase.  Under the direction of Strength and Conditioning Coach John McKenna, the following teams began conditioning workouts this week: Cheerleading, Field Hockey, Football, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball and Boys Basketball.  Coaches and athletes are doing an excellent job of following the strict rules laid out by the NJSIAA: temperatures are checked, masks are worn, social distancing is maintained.  Covid-19 forms are filled out.  All workouts have been held on Monsignor Nolan Field.

I am very proud of the cooperation between parents, coaches and our athletes.  You can see that sense of community that makes Notre Dame special.  Everyone is putting their best foot forward to make this process work.  The smiles on faces and watching the hard work take place makes Phase 1 a worthwhile endeavor.  Let's keep this positive momentum going!  If we have learned anything from this pandemic, we know we have to rely on one another and look out for one another.

I am hoping that better days are coming soon!  Go IRISH!!
