Congratulations Brendan Appert ‘24 the 100th Eagle Scout in Troop 91!
Brendan officially earned the rank of Eagle Scout following his Board of Review which took place in August. His troop leader spoke highly of Brendan when he made the announcement saying, “Over the years Brendan has been one of our most dedicated leaders. His passion for greatness and his drive to improve will carry him to great things in life. But what stood out the most was the fact that he truly put into Scouting what he wanted to get out of it and the results were endless memories and major accomplishments.”
The final requirement to attain Eagle is to complete a community service project. Brendan’s project had special meaning to him. In fact, during his Board he said, “I would encourage all Scouts to find a project that means something to them so that they don’t only feel a sense of accomplishment but motivated to make it the best they possibly can.”
Brendan loves the arts and is a Performing Arts student at ND so he chose a project that would give back to the Notre Dame Performing Arts Program. He became aware that through the years, posters and playbills were created for each spring musical performance but they were not displayed for the students, alumni, faculty and families to appreciate.
So, for his project Brendan and his team scanned all the playbills and created a QR code for each. He collected the posters from past performances and had them framed. The QR code for the corresponding playbill was put on each poster frame so that visitors can access the playbill as well as enjoy the poster. All the posters have been hung in the Notre Dame theater. Brendan said, “It was a fun, unique and memorable project that I hope will continue to be built upon in the years to come.”
Brendan is an excellent example of a young man not only living life by the values of Scouting but also the Notre Dame Mercy Core Values of Respect, Integrity, Justice, Compassion and Service. Congratulations again!
