Mock Trial Competition

Mock Trial Competition

By: Lacey Okamura, Senior Communications Intern

The Notre Dame Mock Trial Team competed on Saturday, January 28th in the Mercer County Mock Trial Competition. Both public and private schools participated in this event. Notre Dame did extremely well in the competition this year, defeating Nottingham High School as well as Lawrence Township High School. That advanced Notre Dame into the semi-final rounds that took place in the afternoon, in which the team went up against Lawrenceville Prep. It was an excellent trial and the judges commended Notre Dame for the hard work and the talent of the attorneys on the team, as well as how prepared the witnesses were in the delivery of their testimonies. Although the team won the round on its substantive value, they did not win the total points of the round, and did not advance past the semi-finals.

Olivia Popovic put on an extremely impressive performance, as she had to play both the plaintiff's attorney and the defendant's attorney. Her performance and command of the law in the trials were flawless.

Congratulations to all the team members who worked so hard and diligently to get to this point.  They are: Sabrina Leiggi ‘24, Olivia Popovic ‘24 , Mya Clarke '25, Isabella Odina '25, Lara Flores ‘25, Sofia Fuller ‘25, Jack Kydonieus ‘25, Faith Figueroa '25, Dominick Cuniglio III ‘26, Sophia Chopan '26, Mary Kerwick ‘26, and Isabela Castro ‘26.

Mrs. Palazza would like to say a special thank you to her team for all their dedication in the Mock Trial Competition. She is looking forward to another great team next year.
