ND is proud of Senior Anthony Cappetta who has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Anthony's Court of Honor was held on December 16. This event celebrates a Scout who has attained this highest rank of Eagle Scout. A Court of Honor reflects on the Scout’s time in Scouting, and includes a slideshow with photos capturing significant moments during their Scouting adventures. Guests also share memories about the Scout, in order to add a personal touch to the event.
The final step in reaching this rank is the completion of a Service Project which Anthony did this past November. He had been working on the project since the previous March, when he created plans and began to ask local municipalities for permission and support. For his project he built a memorial dedicated to all those who have served in the global war against terrorism. The project took eight months from start to finish and two hundred hours to complete. He credits the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6393 for all of their help throughout the duration of the project.
He created the memorial on the grounds of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6393 in Yardley, PA. This included a large stone as the centerpiece, along with a plaque mounted on it, which reads, “Dedicated to all those who have participated in, or served in support of operations in the Global War on Terrorism from September 11, 2001.” The stone is surrounded by an arrangement of red, white, and blue flowers.
“This project has taught me how to give back to my community in a meaningful way,” said Anthony. “It also taught me determination, as I was faced with many obstacles but continued to persevere to accomplish my original vision.”
Along with his goal of honoring veterans, Anthony also hoped to motivate others with his work. “I wanted to inspire others, especially aspiring Eagle Scouts, to do projects or volunteer their time,” said Anthony.
Anthony has been in scouting for many years, as a member of Newtown, Pennsylvania’s Boy Scout Troop 29. He hopes to attend West Point in the fall, where he will continue his work of service.
We are so proud of Anthony and all his accomplishments!
