A student at a Vermont Middle School saved the day when they stopped an attempted school shooting plot, authorities say.
The plot involved two 14-year-old students at Middlebury Union Middle School shooting a third student. A fourth student overheard a conversation about this plot and alerted the principal, who called police.
Police and the school resource officer spent the majority of December 15 and 16 launching a probe, in which they gathered all the information that they could.
Guns were found at the home where the one of the students lived, and prosecutors seized these weapons using an Extreme Risk Order.
Additionally, one of the students caught in this investigation was sent to a local psychiatric hospital and is in the custody of the Department of Child Services. The second is “awaiting possible punishment”, according to the Addison Independent.
For safety, none of the children’s names have been released.
So, always observe carefully and be aware of what’s around you, because you’ll never know when you might need to take action.
