Tristan Tritt ’19 Signs to Play Football at Lafayette College

On College Football National Signing Day, February 6, Tristan Tritt ’19, put pen to paper and committed to play D1 football at Lafayette College this fall. Tristan, the 2018 Times of Trenton Defensive Player of the Year, was joined at the signing table by his parents, Notre Dame alumni Patricia DeMaio ’87 Tritt and Michael Tritt ’87, as well as younger brother Evan Tritt ’21. Head Coach, Marc Lordi, was also there to share in the festivities.
Coach Lordi commented, “The entire coaching staff and I are so proud of everything that Tristan has been able to accomplish here at Notre Dame. Tristan worked incredibly hard in the classroom and on the football field. All of his hard work earned him this scholarship to play football at Lafayette College and we couldn't be happier for him. He is an outstanding person and football player with a ton of talent and a ton of potential. It will be very difficult for us to replace Tristan, but I know that his future at Lafayette is incredibly bright.”

Tristan’s performance on the gridiron, (and subsequent honor as the 2018 Times of Trenton Defensive Player of the Year), included an area high 12 sacks, recorded 51 tackles, forced two fumbles, and recovered two more, including one for a touchdown after a blocked punt against Lawrence. He wreaked havoc in opposing teams' backfields; in a two-game stretch against Steinert (20-14 win) and Hightstown (28-7 win), Tristan had seven sacks, 18 tackles, a forced fumble, and a recovery. In the win over Hightstown, Notre Dame's defense held the Rams to negative-one yard of offense.

It was a memorable year for Tristan and the Irish, who were recognized as both the 2018 Times of Trenton and CVC Football Team of the Year. In addition, Tristan was one of 10 honorees last October, earning Defensive Lineman of the Week at a 12th Man TD Club dinner for his performance amassing 12 tackles, four sacks and a fumble recovery in a win over Hightstown. He was 1st Team All W.J.F.L. Capitol Division, and was named to the Trenton Times All Area Team. Tristan was also recognized as Defensive MVP at Notre Dame’s football banquet this year.

Football is clearly in the Tristan family’s blood as dad Mike Tritt ’87 played for Coach Chappy Moore, and son Evan ‘21 is currently a member of the Notre Dame varsity football squad. Evan won the team’s Rising Star Award at the banquet this year, and plays inside linebacker and offensive line.

Congratulations, Tristan and the entire Tritt family!
