Parent Involvement

Parent Organizations - Ways to be Involved

Parents at Notre Dame High School have many opportunities for involvement in the community. The benefits of parent support for ND students and teachers are many. The added benefit to the parents themselves involves getting to know other parents and a deeper understanding of the mission of our school.

Parent Ambassadors

Our Parent Ambassadors are all carefully selected veteran ND parents who volunteer to welcome new families to the ND community and to establish channels of regular communication. As veterans, these Parent Ambassadors are familiar with the culture of our school and understand the rules, the players, the events, the opportunities and the confusions that new parents experience as “newbies.” These admbassadors have pledged to use their own experiences to help new families navigate the beginning of their ND journey.

The objective of our organization is to develop a mutual understanding and appreciation of the ideals of Catholic education. Our organization is to provide programs, opportunities and the funds by which we can assist the students to develop a personal and community lifestyle grounded on Catholic teachings and Gospel values. This enhances the ability of parents to be able to participate actively and effectively in their student’s education here at Notre Dame. Our PTA is NOT a FUNDRAISING organization, rather a hospitality organization. We foster the religious, intellectual, physical, cultural and social development for each and every student. Our membership is welcome to all fathers, mothers, and guardians of students, members of the faculty and all other persons. We encourage you to come to our meetings. We normally meet the First Tuesday of EVERY month in the Library at 7 p.m. (Our meetings are normally no more than an hour.)

The following is a list of the opportunities we have available throughout the year. Without your support, these functions would not be possible:

Freshman Parent Mass and Dinner - used uniforms are available at this event
Back to School Night - used uniforms are available at this event
Open House for Incoming Classes

Freshman Interviews
Father/Daughter Dance
Mother/Son Dance
Polar Plunge
50/50 Raffle
Teachers’ Luncheon
Cupcake Day during Spirit Week
Back to School Night-used uniforms are available at this event
Spring Open House

Consider joining us and seeing how you can be a part of the ND family. You will have an opportunity to be in the school with the students and faculty. You will be able to make memories for your children while they are here at ND.

About Post Prom

The Post Prom group is a collection of ND parents from all grades, who plan for, and put on an awesome event for our Seniors immediately after their prom. Post Prom continues until 5 am and gives our seniors a safe and fun place to unwind and socialize with their friends and classmates.

One way we support Post Prom is the annual Senior Fashion Show.

PAPA is an acronym for “Performing Arts Parents Association.” We are a group of parents, like you, who enjoy being involved with Notre Dame Performing Arts.

The NDNJPAPA@gmail.com is an email account for the PAPA organization and is separate from Notre Dame’s email system. PAPA volunteers check the mailbox frequently.

We encourage you to join our PAPA Community Group page, which is behind the password, for additional information. You need to go to www.ndnj.org , sign in with YOUR login information, go to the Resources page, browse Groups and join Parents of Performing Arts (PAPA). If you ever have any questions, suggestions or comments, please don’t’ hesitate to email us at NDNJPAPA@gmail.com.

Signature Auction

The Notre Dame High School Auction Committee every year puts together a fabulous event that takes place in October. This years event is on October 15, at The Stone Terrace in Hamilton, New Jersey, and the theme is "Casino Royale." Traditionally, the proceeds from the Signature Auction are used to strengthen the programs offered to our students and teachers at Notre Dame.

Each year, our guests enjoy bidding on many fabulous items and services such as gift certificates to restaurants and local shops, tickets to sporting events, sports memorabilia, theatre and museum tickets, dinner packages, jewelry, bottles of wine and spirits and many other special items that have been donated by the wonderful families in our school. Last year, we were able to raise over $70,000. To date, we have helped contribute more than $1 million dollars toward advancing Notre Dame and its students.

We are always looking for new committee members. Our meeting dates for the 2016/2017 school year are September 6, September 20 and October 4, from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., in the Faculty Dining room.
If you would like further information about how to get involved please contact Elena Caccavale in the Advancement Office at caccavale@ndnj.org.
