The Concert Band is a performing ensemble for students with at least one year of training on a wind instrument (brass or woodwinds), piano, or percussion. The Concert Band performs in concerts, band trips to Disney World, and with the Madrigal Singers in our annual sending school tours. A varied repertoire of Pop, Jazz, Classical and Broadway music is studied and performed. The Concert Band is scheduled into the school day and also rehearses Monday nights at 5:45.

Chamber Orchestra is an auditioned instrumental ensemble that is offered as an after school course for credit. The ensemble meets once a week after school on Tuesdays at 3:45 p.m. and various Activity Periods during the school day. The Chamber Orchestra performs on the Christmas Concert, Spring Arts Festival, Sending Schools and Florida Trip as part of the Notre Dame Orchestra. Chamber Orchestra consists of instruments from the string family (violin, viola, etc.) brass family (trumpet, trombone and french horn) woodwind family (flute, clarinet and sax) and keyboards. A varied repertoire of classical, Broadway and popular styles will be studied and performed.

Jazz Band is an auditioned instrumental ensemble which allows the musician to develop his/her performance skills in the areas of Jazz, Jazz Rock and Afro-Latino Rhythmic Styles. The Jazz Band performs in concerts, on band trips, on our annual sending school tours and selected festivals. Jazz Band members must also perform with the Concert Band. Auditions are held in early June. Please call the Music Office (Ext. 149) for audition materials, date and time. Jazz Band meets weekly on Monday evenings at 6:45pm.

String Ensemble is offered as both a course to be taken during the school day, as well as a co-curricular. The ensemble meets two times a week outside of regular classes - one Activity Period and one after school rehearsal. String ensemble consists of instruments from the string family including: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, and also Piano. The string ensemble will perform at the following ND Performing Arts functions: NDHS Open House, School Liturgies, Sending Schools, Christmas Concert and Dance and Spring Arts Festival. Students with 1 or more years of training on their instrument are eligible. A varied repertoire of classical, Broadway and popular styles will be studied and performed.
