Technical Theatre and Stage Crew
Technical Theatre
Technical Theatre is a 2.5 credit, full-year course open to all grades. This course introduces students to the foundations of costume, scenic, lighting, and sound design in the theatre, as well as props; scenic painting; scenic construction; lighting, sound, and video production; hand and computer drafting, and more. Students will participate in lectures as well as hands-on labs in many different areas of technical theatre. The course ends with a final project that incorporates everything they've learned in class and work in all technical aspects of the Spring production, giving the students a chance to apply the knowledge and skills they've gained and apply it to a real production.
Stage Crew
Stage Crew is called for the fall production, Fusion Dance, the musical, and the spring production, as well as the winter and spring concerts. Selected students are also involved in other events in the auditorium throughout the year. Positions on crew include: lighting and sound operators; followspot operators; stage managers; props & set decoration; building; painting; and hair, makeup, and wardrobe crews.
