Course Description: The Credit Enhancement program is designed with the goal of supporting academic success for students enrolled in College Preparatory academic courses, who earned a grade of 65 to 75 or students enrolled in Honors academic courses, who earned a 65-72.  By completing a supplemental summer course in the same subject, students will be able to better master the academic material while also having the opportunity to improve the grade on the official transcript.  Grades reflected on the official transcript will be calculated using the original course grade as 2/3 and the enhancement grade as 1/3.  In our Summer Academic Enhancement program students will be registered for an online Educere course, receive teacher supported study, and have their in-person exam scheduled. Time on task will be closely monitored.  Students are not required to attend all scheduled hours; time off for vacation or other commitments can be accommodated. 

Please Note: Students completing Credit Enhancement for honors level courses will receive the 3-point grade factor on the 2/3 course grade, not the 1/3 enhancement grade. The enhanced grade will be identified as College Prep on the transcript.

Course Description: Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors will be able to attend a session that will give them a head start in any AP Social Studies courses that they are enrolled in or interested in taking. Throughout the 1 week session, teacher guided instruction will provide students with the opportunities to hone and practice skills that will be relevant to courses and their exams in the following subject areas: AP US History, AP US Government and Politics, AP Psychology, AP European History, and AP Economics. The workshops are designed to help students understand the general course requirements and pacing, the content and skills necessary for success in their Social Studies courses, and the design of the College Board examination. Teachers facilitating these sessions will be using AP level resources to reinforce important skills, themes, and reading and writing skills relevant to each course. Students who wish to transition into the AP Classroom for the first time and feel more comfortable and confident in these rigorous courses should enroll in this session.

Course Description: This course is open to all incoming Freshman students who wish to strengthen skills needed for Algebra 1/Honors Algebra 1.  Students will solidify their skills in rational numbers such as fractions, decimals, percents, and integers.  Order of operations, word problems, the distributive property and combining like terms, and solving equations will also be covered.  Opportunities will be provided to answer questions regarding summer assignments.

Course Description: This course is open to all incoming Freshman and Sophomore students who wish to strengthen skills needed for Algebra 2/Honors Algebra 2.  Students will solidify their skills in order of operations, solving multi-step linear equations/inequalities, graphing linear equations/inequalities, and writing linear equations in slope intercept form will also be covered.  Opportunities will be provided to answer questions regarding summer assignments.

Course Description: This course is open to all Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students who wish to strengthen skills needed for PreCalculus, Advanced Algebra, and Trigonometry.  Students will solidify their skills in graphing linear and quadratic equations/inequalities, laws of exponents, radical expressions, simplifying and factoring polynomial expressions, simplifying rational expressions/equations, writing and solving linear and quadratic word problems, domain and range.  Opportunities will be provided to answer questions regarding summer assignments.

Student advantage: Notre Dame is requiring all students in need of credit recovery to complete the Teacher Assisted Credit Recovery program here at Notre Dame.  In our summer recovery program, students will be signed up for an online Educere course, receive teacher supported study, and have their exam proctored. Time on task will be closely monitored in the program.  Students are not required to attend all scheduled hours; time off for vacation or other commitments can be accommodated. 

Course Description: The program runs Monday, June 24 - Thursday, August 1 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Students are required to complete at least 30 in-person classroom hours per course.  Grades reflected on the official transcript will be calculated using the original course grade as 2/3 and the credit recovery grade as 1/3.

Course Description: (Course 9250) 2.5 credits (60 hours) This course is designed to produce safe, efficient and defensive drivers. Students will be graded on written tests, projects, quizzes and completion of the required state driver examination.

Course Description: (Course 9310) 2.5 credits (60 hours total, divided into 40 hours of PE and 20 hours of classroom First Aid curriculum).  The American Red Cross First Aid course is required for 20 classroom hours.  The course prepares students to recognize and appropriately respond to emergencies in the home and the community.  Students will be trained in adult and pediatric First Aid, CPE, and AED and may attain American Red Cross certification.  Physical Education activities include: weight training, running, and team activities. The classroom course offers valuable skills as students become safety conscious and more capable of handling emergency situations.  

Please Note:  Beginning with the Class of 2023, students who complete First Aid/Personal Fitness during the summer, will be required to complete their Junior Seminar during 12 Activity Period sessions in the school year.

The program will provide the students a jump start to the academic expectations of the high school experience along with social and behavioral acclimation game plans for a successful high school transition.

Course Description:  Academically there is an emphasis on high school preparedness, STEM, Language, Algebra, Religion, English, History, as well as written and oral expression.  Proven study skills and test taking strategies geared to each specific content area will be provided.  For transition to high school, students will be equipped with an understanding of transitional social skills, mindfulness, behavioral expectations, and taught appropriate high school classroom conduct.  The program will be open to all interested incoming Notre Dame Freshman students.  Homework and assessments will be given.  This course will be taught by members of the Notre Dame faculty.

Course Description: (Course 9400) 2.5 credits (60 hours of PE).  Physical Education activities include: weight training, running, and team activities.  Students are invited to complete their PE hours on campus by participating in our weight room offerings, use of our fields and track, and also have the option to complete their PE hours virtually or flex between both offerings.  Only two hours of exercise per day can be submitted through our Google Classroom PE submission form.

This class is designed to further develop the computational skills and conceptual understanding needed to undertake and be successful in college preparatory science curriculum with confidence.  Students will gain a stronger understanding of mathematical concepts as they apply to the Notre Dame Science curriculum.  Students will develop the skills needed for completing algebraic manipulation, solving for probability, data mapping, scientific graphing and trend analysis.  The program will include hands-on learning group projects.

Course Description:  Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to work on their summer English reading assignments in this program.  Teacher guided instruction will provide students help with their summer reading for English along with the accompanying summer packet assignments.  Students are required to provide the required text and this information can be found on the Notre Dame website.

With imagination, materials and guidance each camper’s art can come alive at the Notre Dame Summer art camp!
Campers will explore a number of mediums using a variety of materials (all provided). Throughout the course, students will create their own unique pieces of 3D art such as ceramic pieces, basketry, jewelry making, tie-dye techniques and more!
Fun and free expression will be the focal point of camp. Artists of all abilities are welcome, from the beginner to the advanced art student. Week 2 will include more work with ceramics.

Mr. Louis Gibilisco, Notre Dame’s performing arts and music director and his team invite students from all levels of training to join us this summer for theater camp. Notre Dame High School has an active and well-regarded Performing Arts department which is widely known throughout the area. Each student will receive an hour of voice training, dance and acting daily. This camp will also be working on the scenes, music and dances from next year’s musical.

Attention brass, woodwind, string, percussion and keyboard players! The camp will be concentrating on individual technique, tone, pitch, and blending within the section. Band music for the Florida trip will be introduced to get a jump on the school year.

Carol Cooper-Braun, Learning Specialist and Executive Functioning Coach, will work with students who may struggle with organization, time management, planning, working memory and/or task persistence to build confidence and self-determination ahead of the new school year.
